2021 Volkl Blaze 106
The all-new Blaze series provides an off-piste feel for intuitive skiers who favor short turns, offering one of the lightest freeride skis in its class. They give the skier maximum support during short turns and initiate turns more easily than a comparable Titanal ski.
New for 2021, the Volkl Blaze picks up where the 100Eight left off. With similar measurements and overall feel and performance, the Blaze 106 has a few tricks up its sleeve to separate itself from its predecessor. Völkl’s 3D Radius sidecut technology – with longer radii at the tip and tail and a tighter shape in the midbody – allows the skier to make incredibly quick turns relative to the width of the ski. A new hybrid wood core has been engineered for lighter weight, giving the ski great manoeuvrability and quickness while maintaining Völkl’s signature edge grip.
In the new Suspension Tip design, the wood core follows the shape of the tip allowing a smooth, catch-free ride quality despite the Blaze’s lightweight. Under the binding, a titanal centre sheet provides some extra grip and solid binding screw retention.
Whether dropping in from the first chair or after a quick skin, skiers who don’t like to follow the tracks have a new best friend with the Blaze.
